Build/Renovate

The new addition

Sometimes you just have to rip something up to make it better*.

You own it, it's yours, and you can do it. It just is missing that one (two or maybe three) little feature that will make it perfect. An extra bathroom, one more bedroom, a larger kitchen, or maybe screening in that porch. Are you going to do it yourself, are you going to hire someone, and geez, what exactly will it take to do it anyway.

Well, as time moves on, this section will have information about decks and docks, roads and bridges, bedrooms, bathrooms, kitchens and more! Content is in development and weekly updates will be posted. For the moment we have some seasonal information, heating, seasonal upgrades, and fireplaces.

If you have ideas or content you would like to contribute drop us a line.

* Here are some tips for less drastic improvements:

  • Add a fresh new coat of paint. Paint the walls, paint doors, paint door frames, stain the deck a different colour
  • Add an area rug
  • Add new hardware - change door knobs, drawer pulls, bathroom fixtures, switch plates, outlet covers, etc.
  • Change cupboard doors
  • Change light fixtures
  • Change the paintings
  • Change their frames - or reframe mirrors
  • Add a mirror or two - open up the space
  • Hang a tapestry
  • Change the counter top
  • Buy new towels
  • Buy furniture throws
  • Change the slipcovers
  • Add a screen/room divider
  • Change your shower curtain
  • Try a faux finish
  • Add stainless steel flashing as a backsplash
